Abstract
The power of cinema in portraying reality and its appeal in propaganda has ensured that those in positions of power remain acutely aware of its influence. With the emergence of the film industry in the early twentieth century, wealthy Jews, due to their unique experiences in economics and the arts, became deeply involved in this industry, establishing major film studios. Through this medium, they periodically highlight the Holocaust and the narrative of Jewish persecution under Nazism by producing high-quality films, thereby shaping the perceptions of successive generations. The primary aim of this research is to explore how the film industry contributes to the perpetuation of the Holocaust narrative and the reinforcement of Zionist identity, with a focus on the communication theories of agenda-setting and the spiral of silence. The findings of this study, derived through semiotic analysis and content analysis, emphasize that Zionism has leveraged global Hollywood cinema to advance its propagandistic and political objectives. Based on the research findings, Zionism, through the production and support of high-quality, globally acclaimed films, seeks to keep the memory of the Holocaust alive. In these films, Jews are depicted as victims, while their adversaries are portrayed as embodiments of evil and demonic forces. By aligning with this narrative and fostering a spiral of silence among dissenting voices, Zionism promotes the Holocaust narrative as an indisputable historical truth among its audience.
